About the Event

Polymer  clay is an easy to use, low –temperature oven bake clay that comes in a  variety of colors, and can be painted after baking. In class we will bake small items in a toaster oven, which generally only takes  15 minutes, so participants will be able to take finished pieces home.  We will focus on projects such as beads and ornaments, although small  animals and figures can be attempted also. Jan will demonstrate how to use  shells and wire armature, such as she use in the more advanced figures

Jan Gillies has been working with this medium for several years after taking  several workshops, and recently had one of her figures win an honorable  mention in the Hampshire County Art Show, in addition to having her works  in galleries in Thomas and Berkeley Springs, as well as Lost River. She  finds nature is a constant inspiration, with a major dose of imagination!
